Eligibility
- Programs where all ages are eligible
- Be a resident of Saskatchewan
- Possess a valid Saskatchewan Health Services Number
- Applicant is not eligible for funding from any other government agency
- Individuals residing in personal care homes, special care homes, and group homes are not eligible for environmental equipment (hospital beds, commodes, etc.) only mobility equipment
- Patients in an acute care facility are not eligible for SAIL benefits except as part of a definitive discharge plan
What Devices are Covered?
- Mobility aids: wheelchairs (manual and power), wheelchair cushions, walkers, canes, crutches, and accessories
- Bathroom accessories: seats, commodes, lifts, and accessories
- Transfer assists
- Hospital beds and accessories
- Pressure mattresses
- Reachers
What Services are Available?
- Equipment loans
- Maintenance and repair for all program owned equipment are covered
- Neither Saskatchewan Health nor SaskAbilities install or fund installation of equipment in client’s residences
Procedure for Getting Access
- Clients must be referred for service by authorized health care professional and service must be obtained in Saskatchewan
- A requisition signed by an approved health care professional is required
