Eligibility

- Adults (18 to 64)*
- BC resident
- For prostheses, must be covered by one of the following PharmaCare plans: Fair PharmaCare, Plan B (Residential Care), Plan C (BC Income Assistance), or Plan F (At Home Program)
- For orthoses, must be 18 years of age or younger and covered by one of the following PharmaCare plans: Fair PharmaCare, Plan C (BC Income Assistance), or Plan F (At Home Program)

- Prosthetics (with restrictions)
- Custom orthotics (with restrictions)
What Services are Available?
- Program covers pre-approved prostheses and supplies for eligible patients of any age, and pre-approved orthoses for eligible patients age 18 or younger
- Covers repairs if they are for devices covered by PharmaCare when bought, not covered by a warranty, help attain or maintain basic functionality, and extend the useful life of device
- May cover replacements of device
Procedure for Getting Access
- If appropriate, the orthotist submits an Application for Financial Assistance to PharmaCare for pre-approval for the orthosis on the child's behalf
- For prostheses, a physician completes a prescription, and then a detailed request for approval is submitted to PharmaCare by the prosthetist
- If the cost is less than $400 and the applicant is covered under Fair PharmaCare, the claim shall be sent directly to PharmaCare (if on another PharmaCare plan, the supplier will send the claim on the applicant's behalf)
- For costs more than $400, PharmaCare pre-approval is required (the prosthetic or orthotic supplier will submit an Application for Financial Assistance to PharmaCare on the applicant's behalf)
